Food for thought
I found this article by Richard King immensely interesting.
As a side note, while looking for a graphic to accompany this post, I googled "novel". The second result was Twilight...I may be being snobbish here, but that is horrifying.

More Wes Anderson genius

This is from promo material for wes Anderson.
I also like this Five signs you're watching a wes Anderson movie.

I love interesting window displays....none of the attention grabbing stuff like live models, but just pretty, inspiring things that make you smile as you pass by. There was one near my house of a black dress and coat with a long pea-green scarf. Simple, elegant, eye catching. I was so sad when it was replaced!

Can't judge...

I love the website http://covers.fwis.com/, the covers are so beautiful and I love the idea that people want to discuss them. A custom designed cover of someone's favourite book would make such a special gift. What would you put on a cover?

My New Mantra
We were sitting in the park in yesterdays oppressive heat and stumbled across my new mantra. It must have been the heat or the Monet exhibition we had just seen, but there it was: 'Life should be one long poetry reading'.
Poetry readings had struck me as an enjoyable thing to do it the cool somewhere, instead of a trip to the multiplex in the city on a hot summers day.
